A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Matt 5:14 |
Summary Doctrinal Statement The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God and constitutes His completed and final revelation to man. The Bible in its original autograph, is without err in whole and in part, including theological concepts as well as scientific and historical details. God has existed from all eternity in three persons: God the Father, God the Son , and God the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ was God come in human flesh being fully God and fully man, except without sin. All men are born in sin and are therefore under God's condemnation. Jesus Christ, was born of a virgin, came and paid the penalty for man's sin through His substitutionary death on the cross, the successful accomplishment of which was attested by His subsequent visible, bodily resurrection. Salvation is offered as a gift, free to the sinner. This gift must be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone. By belief in Christ the person is eternally secure and escapes the eternal punishment of hell and awaits eternity in heaven. God has established the human institutions of family, church, and government to carry out His principles. The believer has the hope of Christ's return. |

Teachings of the Church Section I - of the Scriptures We believe that the Holy Bible, as originally written, was verbally inspired and the product of spirit-controlled men, and therefore is truth inerrant and must be interpreted literally. We believe that it is the true center of Christian union and the only infallible rule for all human conduct, creeds, and opinions (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:19-21). It is accurate in all it teaches including science and history. We believe that revelation has ceased and that the Bible is complete. Revelation 22:18-19 Section II - of the True God We believe that there is only one living and true God, infinite in every excellence; that in the unity of the godhead, there are three personal distinctions- the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit- one in substance and equal in every divine perfection, yet executing distinct, but harmonious offices. Exodus 20:2-3; I Corinthians 8:6; I Peter 1:2; II Corinthians 13:14. We believe in the absolute deity of the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ; that He was divine as no other man can be, existing from all eternity co-equal with the Father and the Spirit; that He never ceased to be God for one instant and that his humiliation did not consist in laying aside His death; that as a man, He was miraculously begotten of the Holy spirit and born of the virgin Mary; that he lived a sinless life and gave Himself as a perfect substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of all men; that He arose in the very body, though glorified, in which he was crucified; that He ascended into heaven where he is seated at the right hand of God interceding for His people, and will return to the earth in keeping with his promises. Matthew 1:20-21; John 1;1-2; John 14:1-3; II Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:20. We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead, is a divine person, equal with the Father and Son and of the same substance and nature; that He convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment; bears witness to the truth; is the agent of new birth; and that He seals, endues, guides, teaches, witnesses to, sanctifies and helps the believer. He indwells every true child of God at the point of salvation. The gift of tongues was a sign gift until the scriptures were completed. These gifts ceased at the time. John 16:8-11, 13; Romans 8:11-14, 16; I Corinthians 12:13; 13:8; II Corinthians 13:14; Galatians 5:22;Ephesians4:30 Section III - of the Creation We believe that God created the heavens and the earth, including all life, "each after it's own kind" in six literal days by direct act and not by process of evolution. Genesis 1,2; Exodus 20:10-11; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17 Section IV - of the Devil or SatanWe believe in the distinct personality of Satan, that he is the unholy god of this age, the father of lies, author of all the powers of darkness and sin, and is destined to the judgement of an eternal justice in the lake of fire. Isaiah 14:12-15; Matthew 4:1-3; II Corinthians 4:4; revelation 20:10-11; John 8:44. Section V - of the Spirit Realm We believe that God created an innumerable company of sinless spirit beings, that many of these continued in their holy state and are the ministers of God; that Lucifer (now known as Satan or the Devil) and many others rebelled against God; that these have fallen spirit beings, though defeated in the cross of Christ, still continue to oppose God and suffer everlasting punishment, which is their righteous due. Matthew 18:10; Hebrews 12:22; II Peter 1:4; Jude 6; Revelation 20:10 Section VI - of the Fall of Man We believe that man was originally created in the image and after the likeness of God; that through uncoerced disobedience Adam fell from his original state, became depraved in the nature of God, and came under condemnation and the sentence of death; that, because of unity of the human race and the natural headship of Adam, all men (Jesus Christ only excepted) are born with sin natures and have come under the same consequences of sin. Genesis 1 - 3; romans 5:10-21; Romans 6:33 Section VII - of the Atonement of Sin We believe that the only escape from the condemnation of sin is through the atonement wrought by Jesus Christ, when He voluntarily took upon Him a human body and nature, yet without sin, and by His suffering, death, and resurrection made full satisfaction to the justice of God for the sin of man, that the blessings of this salvation are given on the grounds of grace to all who believe and that it is the immediate duty of all that accept these offers of mercy. John 1:1-3; Hebrews 10:4-14; John 3:1-7; Acts 16:30-33 Section VII - of the Atonement of Sin We believe that the only escape from the condemnation of sin is through the atonement wrought by Jesus Christ, when He voluntarily took upon Him a human body and nature, yet without sin, and by His suffering, death, and resurrection made full satisfaction to the justice of God for the sin of man, that the blessings of this salvation are given on the grounds of grace to all who believe and that it is the immediate duty of all that accept these offers of mercy. John 1:1-3; Hebrews 10:4-14; John 3:1-7; Acts 16:30-33 |
Section IX - of Sanctification We believe that every saved person is positionally, in Christ, completely set apart for God; that in experience the saved person retains his ability and desire to sin, which is not eradicated in this life, and thus his present state, is no more perfect than his daily experience; that there is a progressive sanctification wherein the saved person is to grow in his grace and into Christ-likeness by the unhindered power of the Holy spirit; that when Christ appears the saved person will be fully sanctified so that his state will conform to his standing. We believe progressive sanctification involves separation not from ungodly living but also from ungodly teaching; that; though we love all men and seek their salvation, there are areas in which we cannot have fellowship with unbelievers; that, in the areas of ecclesiastical fellowship, it may be necessary to separate even from our brethren in Christ, if they in turn maintain fellowship with unbelievers. Romans 6;6-19; 8:26; II Corinthians 6:14-18; Ephesians 2:10; Philippians 1;6; Jude 1: I Thessalonians 4:5-7; II Thessalonians 3:6; Hebrews 10:10; I John 4:1; II John 9-11. Section X- of the Church We believe that the church universal is a New Testament institution; unknown to the Old Testament prophets; established by Jesus Christ, who is its sole head; revealed through the holy apostles; empowered and perpetuated by the Holy Spirit; composed of believers in Jesus Christ as Savior, both Jew and Gentile, called out from the world and indwelt by the Holy Spirit; His "body" for service and His "bride" for glory. It began with the New Testament saints and will be completed at the coming of Christ in rapture. Matthew 16:18; Acts 1:8; 2:1-13, 31-47; 15:14; Romans 16:26; I Corinthians 12:12-28; Ephesians 1:22-23; 3:21; 5:22-23; I Thessalonians 4:13-18. We believe that the church universal is manifested through the local church which is a congregation of immersed believers associated by covenant of faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by the his laws; exercising the gifts, rights, and privilege invested in it by His Word; that its officers are pastors (or bishops or elders) and deacons; that it has the absolute right of self-government directed by the Holy Spirit and it is answerable only to God; and that in all matters of covenantal fellowship, policy, government, discipline, and benevolence the will of the local church is final. Matthew 18:15-17; I Corinthians 1:2; 6:4; 7:17; 11:16; I Timothy 3:1-15 Section XI - of the Ordinances We believe that there are two church ordinances: baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism is the single immersion of a believer in water and is properly called "Believer's Baptism." It sets forth in a beautiful way our faith in a crucified, buried , and risen Savior, with its effect on our lives of death to sin and resurrection to a new life. Baptism is a prerequisite to the privileges of the church relation. The Lord's Supper is a commemoration of our Lord's death until He comes and our continual fellowship with Him. It should be preceded by baptism and always by careful examination. Acts 2:41-42; 8:36-39; Romans 6:3-5; I Corinthians 11:23-32; Colossians 2:12 Section XII - of the Righteous and wicked We believe that there is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked; that only such as through faith are justified in the names of the Lord Jesus Christ, and sanctified by the Spirit of god, are truly righteous in God's esteem; while all such who continue in impenitence and unbelief are in His sight wicked and are under the curse; and that this distinction holds among men both in and after death: in everlasting felicity of the saved and in the everlasting conscious suffering of the devil and his angels Malachi 3:18; Mark 9:43-48; Luke 16:25; John 8:21; Matthew 25:34-1; Romans 6:17-23; Revelation 20:215; 21:8 Section XIII - of Civil Government We believe that the civil government was instituted by God and is still His means of maintaining peace and order among men; that believers here on earth are responsible in the area of civil government and should pray for and should participate in it to promote and preserve tranquility in human society; that civil government and churches (and fellowships of churches) are distinct from each other, that they must be organizationally separate from each other, and that neither must seek to control the other. Matthew 18:15-17; Romans 13:1-7; Acts 4:19-20; 5:29; Colossians 3:22-24 Timothy 2:1-; I Peter 2:13-14 Section XIV - of Things to Come We believe in the bodily, personal, imminent, premillennial return of Jesus Christ for His church; that he will come before the seven year tribulation period to catch away his church; coming only in the air, and that He will come at the close of the tribulation to judge the living nations and set up His kingdom. The Lord Jesus Christ will then literally rule this earth for one thousand years called the millennium, after which time Satan will be loosed and cast into the lake of fire; the unrighteous dead shall be resurrected to stand before the Great White Throne and then cast into the lake of fire; following that there will be a new heaven and a new earth. I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Matthew 25:31-45; Revelation 19:11-21; 7:4.9.14; 13:6-17; 20;1-15; 221:1-27; II Peter 3:12-13
